It's such a beautiful day. The gray clouds are hanging low over our sleepy junior college, and I am actually comfortable in my long-sleeved cotton shirt. *cheers* Now if only it would rain....
I want fall. Now. I want to wear sweatshirts and jackets and boots and all that. I'm almost ready to stand outside and beg. I don't do the whole summer thing very well at all.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, for some poetry by that Oh-so-handsome poet, Handsome Dan.

Flatline Philospher

Start off faster than you began
Get off faster than you got on
Think about the time
You spent alone thinking
Thoughts about the future
What it holds
In his own right
He's a flatline philosopher
Thinking about the times he never thought at all
All the life he lived
All the time he spent
The sun will rise again
Over the hills
Children will go on singing
Songs of times to come
A flatline philosopher in his own right
When at the end of the road
No one's for sure what will cross their mind
A sunset
A flower
A kiss goodnight
The painting is finished, see
The painting is finished, see
In his own right
He's a flatline philosopher
Thinking about the times he never thought at all
All the life he lived
All the time he spent
The sun will rise agaun
Over the hills
Children will go on singing
Songs of times to come
A flatline philosopher in his own right

Hindsight Ahead

A million roads taking us
Somewhere
Looking back looking
Back there
I see signs of us
Everywhere
But tomorrow never ends
Anywhere
Today burns in our hearts
In there
Look straight ahead
Out there
To a million roads taking us
Somewhere

And when he gives me some more, you, too, can share the experience.

(So here's the deal; I'm going to market Dan's music/poetry, and he's going to market my poetry. We'll regroup in a year and see who's famous.)

All right, everyone who's interested: I got all three classes. Do you remember when I interpreted the health class? So does the teacher. The class this semester is completely full, but the teacher gave me an add card and said that I only have to turn in the course work. I do not have to attend class. And the crowd went wild, and the church said "AMEN!" See, the work is a joke. Read eleven articles about these topics by the end of the semester and write a one-page opinion response. Oh, and fill in these worksheets based on the book. *giggles* Easiest three P.E. units ever.

Other than that, life is good and it goes on and on. I haven't been online because I still don't have internet access in my room and I've also been a bit busy. I love you all. *blows a kiss* Ciao.

I still think I'd want to be trained by Yoda. I know about all the other Jedi masters, but something about Yoda... He can't be beat. He was the best. He's still my favorite.

All this sprung from trying to decide where I'll hang my "Wisdom of Yoda" poster. I think.... Hmm. On the wall next to my bed. That and the "Everything I Need to Know About Life I Learned From Star Wars" one. The Edmund Blair Leightons will be scattered. I know, you're all dying to know this. *rolls her eyes*

I'm sitting in my new room. My windows are open, and my cat's napping in the sun. There are squirrels playing in the tree outside my windows. I'm listening to Jars of Clay. I'm still in my pajamas. My grandma's coming later. I'm talking to one of my best friends. I'm plotting where I'm going to put my posters.

Come on, you wish you could be doing this, don't you?

Bah. I keep getting my hours taken away, so what they hey, I'm going to finish my AA.

Oh, God. That rhymed. Someone just shoot me.

Anyway, for those of you who care, I'm going to try and get into a mutli-cultural/gender studies class, a PE class, and the stagecraft class. Mike already said that's a go. *cheers*

We are NOT naming the cafeteria. We'd win, and then I'd have to deal with fame. I order you guys to stop.

*sighs*
I have so many things I'd say... But I'm not allowed to say them. I'm on the confidante list of Stan, Dan, Brian, and... Wait. That's enough.
Anyway. My social group can't decide who they're each in love with, so it rotates. I'd think we'd get better results if we exchanged numbers, kind of like a gift exchange. That way no one gets their feelings hurt, and I could have fun taking pictures of the results.
Okay, on another note, the concert was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, Jody Davis's voice stilll gives me chills, Phil Joel still has the most rockin' hair ever, and Peter Furler looks great in his black suits, but standing on a wet hill gripping the railing to keep myself from falling was so not fun.
Besides, the concert was only an hour, and Peter spent at least fifteen minutes talking. Bleh.
However, the company was good, and the interactions were amusing.

So this morning, my boss called me. At 6:18. Later she denied this. "I called after eight, I know I did." So I had to show her my cell phone record of calls. Then she was horrified. And I laughed. Heartily.
At nine, I was supposed to go to room 1212 and interpret a class. I asked T where 1212 might be. Believe it or not, there's a place on this campus I didn't know about. Anyway, T says, "Oh, that was demolished this summer."
Great.
I ended up assigned to 1055 for a few hours, which was nice.
So my day has been full of fun and excitement. The first few weeks are always completely tumultuous, but somehow the interpreting staff remains dignified.

"Sunny Came Home," Shawn Colvin

Sunny came home to her favorite room
Sunny sat down in the kitchen
She opened a book and a box of tools
Sunny came home with a mission
She says "Days go by, I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire"
Sunny came home with a list of names
She didn't believe in transcendence
"It's time for a few small repairs," she said
Sunny came home with a vengeance
She says "Days go by I don't know why
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire"
Get the kids and bring a sweater
Dry is good and wind is better
Count the years
You always knew it
Strike a match
Go on and do it
Days go by I'm hypnotized
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire
Light the sky and hold on tight
The world is burning down
She's out there on her own and she's all right
Sunny came home
Sunny came home

So school's coming up. I'm so glad. I mean, I'm annoyed that we're having to move right now, but I'm still glad the semester's starting. This will be the first time that I'm not enrolled in school .... since I was four years old. Four. I've been in school way way way way too long.
And here I am staying out of school only so I can go back with a vengeance! Makes no sense.
Okay, so aside from moving and having one of my friends lose his good sense, I'm bored. Moving doesn't take thought, and my friend is just going to have to live without his brain for a while. He has males to take care of him.
I want to go back to work. My sign is getting clumsy. I think one thing and sign another. My hands are getting a little bit stiff. I've started signing to myself, and I've realized that even in my own home, I get strange looks. *sniffle*
There's something about going to work, going to classes, having people to see and places to go, that makes me feel alive. I love it.
I also love the cold, and I'm really annoyed with this heat. It's still getting to be about ninety degrees, and it's just driving me crazy. Come on, let it be fifty degrees for a week, and let it rain. I miss the spring, and I'm looking forward to fall.
*sighs* I have to sleep.

"Dig," Jars of Clay

I had a big idea
I had a crazy eye
I broke the sacred seal
I told a lazy lie
I've had my conscience bent
I've had my patience tried
I've been up in the desert and
Down by the riverside
Will the eagle fly
If the sky's untrue?
Do the faithful sigh
Because they are so few?
Remember when I cried?
Remember when you knew?
Remember the look in your eyes?
I know I do
And count the stars to measure time
The earth is hard, the treasure fine
To the sea, I crawl on my knees
Feel it coming in
Feel it going out
Water covers sand
Blood covers doubt
So I begin again
Again, the healing bow
There was a time when I might have surrendered
But not now
Consult the cards to measure mine
The earth is hard, but the treasure fine
To the sea, I crawl on my knees
Consult the cards to measure mine
The earth is hard, but the treasure fine
At the sea, I'll wait on my knees
At the sea, I'll wait on my knees
At the sea, I'll wait on my knees

"Darling, nothing is final until you're dead, and even then, I'm sure God negotiates."
--Ever After

All right, I realize that I haven't posted anything in a while, but I've been moving, and guys, have I or have I not been exhausted? That's what I thought. I'm just here to say keep the faith. I'll be back in full posting mode by the time school starts, if not before. Picture me at school with the good connection and lots of free time between jobs. If you've pictured me at the computer in the media center window, you win the grand prize. Which is.... um.... *glances around, looking for something to grant the winner(s)* Well, let's just say you did a good job and leave it at that. :-D

The Coin

"I feel a connection with you. Something deep. Like . . . you know how if you take a coin and break it in a vise and throw half in the ocean and keep the other in a dresser drawer, they'll yearn after each other? One day you're taking out a pair of socks and knock the drawer-half onto the floor without noticing. Somebody kicks it toward the door. A week later, it's half a block away. And the other half meanwhile, a fish swallows it and is caught and gutted and the entrails thrown into the trash, half-coin and all. So maybe a couple of months later, it might take a century, you'll find the two lying in the sand at the verge of some nothing-special stretch of country road, nestled together.
"That's kind of how I think we are."

I'm alive, I really am. I'm just not posting much until people get back from Santa Maria and start replying. So. :-P

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! It's August! *cries*

I forgot this...
Ever been on Splash Mountain? Remember the part where you're staring at the hind end of Brer Bear? So Stan says, "Wow. I went to Disneyland and got mooned by a big bear."
Admittedly, it would be more fun to quote him out of context.
Stan had my by the wrists in a futile attempt to keep me from dumping more water on him. Instead of really fighting back, I just sort of sat there and talked to him. He's definitely stronger than I am, and not apt to hurt me, you know? However, he's not necessarily stronger than Bethany, so in a half-hearted kind of way, she leaned forward and pulled on his arm. "Ooo," she said, "Stan has muscles."
"Hey! Don't sound so surprised!" He yelped.
I think that was when he let me go. ; )

Today was a day. And that's all. It's been fun to hang out with my aunt, but we're both kind of depressed that time has flown so quickly. This only wastes more of our precious time, but you gotta let us mourn. It's not even that I like summer... It's that I liked when summer ended mid-September. Anyone else remember that? Going back to school in mid-September?

Bah.
